AIBU to be P***ed off with friend

A close friend of mine (DD godmother) has a boy the same age as Dom, They have always been very close and often mistaken for twins.
Anyway, next week is his birthday.
My friend had talked since Christmas about doing a trip to Legoland with Dom.
About a month ago she said, "we'll all go together" meaning the two families split cost etc etc.
A week ago she said that they had decided to go alone.
I had told my boys and now have to explain why they are not going.
I feel pretty pissed off and feel its a bit like, "well we'd rather go without you" but DH doesn't think its that bad and that I'm being a bit unreasonable.
Am I?

I would be a little upset too if I had told my child they were doing something as exciting as legoland with a friend and then allof a sudden they weren't.

Can you perhaps take the boys anyway, perhaps on a different day over the weekend so they still have a lot fun and aren't too disappointed by not going with the other family.

I don't think YABU to be a little annoyed/put out. It was decided that you would all go.. and now suddenly your boys are the disappointed ones.

Can you take them just your lot? And have even more fun that your friends day out... and plaster FB with pics of you all smiling, laughing ..

Thanks, I think this is what we will do, The boys did go to Legoland recently with grandparents, we were invited but decided to save pennies for the "big one"
it just annoys the hell out of me that suddenly we aren't welcome.

YANBU at all. I think it's very rude of your friend, she must know that you've told the children and that they will be looking forward to it. Did she give a reason?

If it were me, I'd still go - the same day and everything! You've made plans, got your boys all excited about it! You should go, just not with them. Don't let them spoil your plans.
