WYOO chatting at work
Do you think having a good old natter at work is a waste of time? Do you think it helps foster relationships, or is it just an opportunity for people to avoid work? Do you know people at work who just can't hit deadlines/targets (and whinge about it), but always have time to catch up on gossip? Is there any advantage to listening to Annette tell you all about her aunty in Peru?

Hate it hate it!
I work from home and the Dog really gets on my nerves
Seriously when i go into the office I get about 1/2 what I normally do done, just down to the amount of inane chatting.
I far prefer to do mine on the internet!

I don't talk about anything personal with my colleagues. I don't like half of them!!! I'm one of those boring don't talk much at my desk as i'm working kind of geeks. I hate it when people barge in my office yelling loudly at me(sorry I mean talking to me). I also can't be bothered hearing random people's life stories! How boring! Do people not know when they are being dull and to shut up.

I think I am the colleague everyone hates
I tend to ramble on a bit, mostly about nothing very interesting at all. I know I do it and I annoy myself I hasten to add it's not an all day thing but sometimes I don't know when to shut up.
Not a gossip though. It's normally about a race (F1), what they (whomever I am speaking to) have been doing, pets, the garden or what the kids have/haven't been doing. Last week it was MIL rants. We are a fairly small office and do have spates of chat, usually around the time the tea trolley comes round (yes we are that old fashioned)
I work in an accountancy office so we have to try and keep the place a bit lively to supress the rumours

I like chatting at work, at appropriate times. I get cross when I am busy and people are chatting, but during breaks, or when you are busy with your hands but your brain is free then chat away! It would be boring to be silent all the time.
Just don't tell me about your innermost demons and don't show me your surgery scars!
